Position Responsibilities:

Estimator will efficiently perform accurate material and equipment take-offs, and exercise sound judgment in estimating labor for the industrial and commercial mechanical scopes of work. Estimator must be able to take direction and effectively complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Estimator will be responsible to perform all tasks necessary for a well organized, complete, and accurate estimate, and the efficient execution of all pre-construction tasks.

Estimator will follow all established estimating and pre-construction procedures and protocols; and may participate in the development of new procedures and protocols. Estimator will have opportunities to be promoted to increasing levels of responsibility based upon individual performance

Required Tasks:

• Estimate all components of a majority of industrial and commercial projects bid by the company.

• Perform all estimating tasks, as follows:

o Attend pre-bid job meetings

o Piping and equipment take-offs, via TSI ESTmep

o Evaluation and analysis of material and equipment quotes

o Labor productivity estimates (analyze company historical labor rates in conjunction with standardized industry labor rates)

o Estimate the Supervision and General Conditions

o Specification and plan review

o Risk analysis

o Author and submit pre-bid questions (RFI’s)

o Solicit vendor participation

o MBE/DBE good faith efforts and goals requirements

o Bid mark-up recommendations

o Author proposals

o Post-bid analysis and review

• Participate in the development of conceptual estimates.

• Participate in bid reviews.

• Perform all pre-construction tasks, as follows:

o Submittal review and processing

o Author and track RFI’s

o Procure construction materials

o Negotiate, issue, and track purchase agreements

o Negotiate, issue, and track subcontracts

o CPM Scheduling

o Communication with Owner/G.C. and Design Engineer

o Change order negotiations with Owner/G.C.

o Coordinate with Engineering and BIM department as necessary

• Participate in pre-construction meetings with project team.

• Identify value engineering opportunities.

• Establish and maintain relationships with potential clients and G.C.’s.

• Other duties as required or assigned.

Education & Experience:

• BS degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is strongly desired; equivalent industry experience or a combination of education and industry experience may be considered.

• Extensive experience with Excel is required. Must be familiar with on screen take-off software (TSI ESTmep desired, other software experience may be considered). Must be able to work in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the industrial or civil construction industry.

• Minimum 2 years of experience estimating and performing pre-construction tasks, with an industrial or civil contractor.
