Building Your Brand Using a Blog
Today, blogging is one of the most important tools a company can have in addition to social media. On top of a proper logo, signature colors, and design, branding also entails storytelling. While blogging can seem like a daunting task, it’s one of the easiest and most fun ways a company can tell its story and establish their name.
Blogging, essentially, is your company’s street cred. As such, blog content aren’t just placeholder words on your company’s website – it’s the content you provide there for readers to know more about what your establishment is about. Content should always evolve, a change for the better, which arguably is also required for your company.
A company’s website, as long as the content is genuine and relatable to the readers, wouldn’t need to worry about search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is how a website creates an online presence and reaches the frontlines of search engines – it’s how websites (and the companies they represent) are found. Thus, having engaging content is key.
In fact, when done correctly and smartly, a blog works for itself. For example, how would you entail to your readers that your company has work-life balance, and that people will enjoy working there? The usual method would be to say it straightforwardly: “We’re a fun company to work with” and then a typical stock photo of people in business attire seemingly having fun at the office.
Yes, that isn’t to say that the aforementioned method won’t work – it will, but with extra sweat. While the message is direct for humans, it isn’t for search engines. An SEO expert will have to optimize your company’s pages and content in order for people to easily find your website.
However, consider the next method: A blog entry that displays pictures of your employees out on an excursion or company outing, or any other team building events with a write up that genuinely tells a story. “Today we took a jet boat excursion with our families along Sutherland Reservoir. Have a happy weekend ahead!”

This style is great and non-robotic like. It shows your potential candidates that the people in your company really exist. It’s far more engaging and believable. Besides, if you were a candidate looking for employment, which company is more interesting to work with – the one that seems cookie-cutter, or the one that provides real experiences?
